October 31, 2009 Game Results The Kanawha Redskins Pee Wee JV team defeated a tough Goochland Bull Dogs team 13-7 to end the season with a 5-2 record and are playoff bound. On their second drive, the Redskins drove down the field on a 9 play drive behind the Wild Boars with great runs by Ethan, Bryce and Spencer. This week the Wild Boars consisted of Kendrick (WR), Noah (TE), Daniel (TE and G), T.K. (TE and G), Reid (TE), Darren (T and G), Gilbert (G), Chris (T), Kyle (T), Aaron (T), Sam (G and T), Lachlan (C). Ethan scored the first TD on a nice 12-yard run. The Defense held the Bulldogs scoreless in the first half. The Redskins new defense this week was lead by Nikos (CB), Spencer (CB), Rand (CB), Noah (LB), Liam (LB), Kendrick (LB), Sean (LB), Judd (DE), Braxton (DE), Carter (DT), Hunter (DT), Daniel (DT), Evan (DT), Bryce (S), Lemontre (S), Hayden (S). The keys and big plays on defense this week were: (1) Spencer, “Mr. Lock Down Corner” not letting the Bull Dogs get past him once; (2) Daniel and Nikos combining for a sack; (3) Lemontre – 3 great pass defenses – This week intercept one of those balls and take it to the house; (4) Braxton stopping a reverse himself in the backfield. Judd, Bryce, Liam and Lemontre also added some big tackles. Right before half time, the Redskins launched another long drive for a TD. This time the Redskins drove down the field on nice runs by Bryce, Kendrick, Bryce and Spencer. Then, on the 7 yard line, the Spencer, “The Bus” pounded throught the line for a TD. On the next play, Spencer pounded through for the extra point. On Special Teams, Sean made a touchdown saving tackle on a kick off. Late in the game when the Redskins needed a drive to run out the clock, the Redskins jumped upon the Bus and drove the ball down the field for the win. WELCOME TO THE 2009 FOOTBALL SEASON!
