THIS IS HOMECOMING WEEK!!

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

Wednesday, October 15th - 7:15 p.m: HOMECOMING PEP RALLY AND HOMECOMING COURT SELECTION Practice for all football and cheerleading teams is being rescheduled due to Short Pump Elem having a PTA meeting on Thursday night,therefore we are not able to practice on the 16th. (Football players, please check with your coaches for your practice schedule this week. Some teams will go M-T-W and some teams will go M-W-F.) Saturday, October 18th: *All metro teams will play the Goochland Bulldogs at Kanawha *Raffle drawings during the day. Half of the proceeds made will be donated to the ALS Association in honor of former Kanawha Coach Dean Kemp (see below) *Amusements by Bounce to the Moon will begin around 4:00 p.m. *6:30 p.m. - Post Game Tailgate Celebration!! This is one of the most fun events of the season! Please bring the whole family back to enjoy dinner - Kanawha will provide BBQ, Chicken and Hotdogs. We ask that football parents bring a side dish and cheerleading parents bring a dessert. Bring your own drinks and some chairs and plan on making an evening with good fun, food and friends!Kids will enjoy the amusements and impromptu football games. We hope to also have the 2nd annual Coaches Flag Football Game this year - the kids love this! Make plans to join us for this fun event-filled day! ******************************************************************** RUDINO'S PIZZA AND GRINDERS WILL BE HOSTING KANAWHA SPIRIT SATURDAYS ON EACH OF OUR METRO HOME GAME DAYS 10/4, 10/18 and 10/25. Rudino's is located in the John Rolfe Shopping Center off John Rolfe Parkway. Go in after the game on Saturday or anytine on a home game Saturday and let them know you are with Kanawha. They will donate a portion of the proceeds to Kanawha for each of those Saturdays and it will go to benefit all Kanawha kids! *****************************************************************

BE A PART OF THE KANAWHA GOLF TOURNAMENT THIS YEAR.....

We are in need of several more teams for the Kanawha Golf Tournament to be held on Monday, October 13th at Sycamore Creek Golf Course in Goochland. Jeff Anderson, our association photographer has been busy snapping very candid photos of the football and cheerleading teams at work during practice and our first two games. Go to the site and click on the link for your child's team and view pictures and slideshows already on the site. Jeff will be taking pictures of games, practices and special event throughout the season. If you order pictures, a portion of the sales will go to Kanawha so please check them out frequently for some great keepsakes of this year's football season.

WEATHER POLICY

If there is inclement weather during the day, or the night before, of a scheduled practice, Henrico County will make a decision on whether or not to close our fields. This decision is usually made by 3:00 p.m. Once they make a decision, we will put any cancellations on the hotline (360-8633). If bad weather occurs after 3:00 p.m., the decision on whether to close the fields is at our discretion. If the hotline has not been updated by 5:30, assume practice is on. If bad weather occurs after 5:30 and we have to make a last minute decision, we will have a board member in the parking lot advising you that practice is cancelled. During practice, if lightening is in the area, we will have the kids leave the field and ask them to stay in their parent's cars for a period of time undtil we advise as to what the status of the remainder of practice will be. There should be an adult in charge of your child during practice at all times for this reason as well as for safety reasons.
