WELCOME TO THE 2011 FOOTBALL POST-SEASON!!!! Coach Bo here... I have enjoyed coaching this year, more than any other year. I came into this season with the mindset that it doesn't matter how good a kid is, but how much he wants to play. Never have I had a group of kids almost beg to play, every play, and they actually get upset when they don't, even in practice. The biggest thing is there are usually kids on the team that are like "why are they playing this kid, or why are they playing that kid, he is no good" or whatever. This is the first time in 6 years of coaching that I have not heard this one time! I have felt comfortable with every child on this team, to be able to play them almost at will, where I feel they would be best to play, and even where they want to play. In reality, the regular season means nothing on the scorecard. Yeah, it's horrible losing, but it makes winning that much sweeter. Now it's playoff time, it's time to get serious. Now, if we lose, the season is over. Period. Starting now, I will play the kids who are playing the best at that moment, and play the kids who show me that they want to play. If that means everyone, that means everyone. I have been able to put kids in positions and actually see how they perform, as well as see how they have grown, and wow have they grown. Kids that would probably only play the minimum on most other teams, being allowed to play and reach or exceed their potential, and make huge plays when needed the most. This group alone has been instrumental in our games, and I am blessed to have coached them. Then you take into account the kids who have never played before... to step up and to work hard, and to go from "I don't know what I'm doing", to "hey coach let me do this or that", and know what they want, and actually have an idea on how to do it. Maybe not well sometimes, but they want to at least try, and sometimes to the surprise of themselves and the coaches, they come up big. That's what counts the most. Win or lose next Wednesday, this team can hold their heads high, and be so proud of how hard they have worked, and how determined they have been to do their best. Do not lose your focus, pay close attention to your coaches. Offense, remember the snap count and Power Step! Defense watch for the movement of the ball. With focus comes success. Time for everyone to step it up, focus, and do your best. What more can you ask for? Go Redskins! Please check the front page of the site to see when the fields are open or closed.
