| Pee Wee Gridiron Game 5
Redskins 12 – Western White
The Kanawha Redskin Pee Wee Gridiron team traveled to the field at Byrd Middle School on October 4th to take on the Western White Wildcats. The Redskins began the game by kicking off to the Western White team. On the Wildcat’s first possession the Redskin’s defense was able to hold them and get the ball back on downs. The Redskins were able to score on their first possession with great runs by #5 Jay Adams and a touchdown run by #21 William Abbott. The Redskins went up 6-0. The Wildcat’s first possession saw their quarterback move the ball down the field with some good passing plays. However, the Redskin’s defense held their ground with some great tackles by #57 Ryan Berkeley, #81 Parker Shaw, and #83 Parker Lawson. The Redskins managed to get the ball back on a fumble recovery by #2 Lamont Satterwhite. Once again the Redskins showed that they meant business and scored a touchdown thanks to a run by #5 Jay Adams and a long run touchdown run by #21 William Abbott. They were assisted in making the touchdown thanks to some good blocking by #75 L.J. Rauppius, #3 Conor Crook, and #77 Tommy Hongcharti. The Redskins were now up 12-0. Next, the Redskins kicked off and the Wildcats started moving the ball down the field but were stopped by an interception by #82 Garrett Wilson. There was little time left on the clock before the half ended and the Redskins moved the ball quickly down the field within the 10 yard line. This was done thanks to some great runs by #24 Jovon Hughes, #9 Trevor Holt, and #5 Jay Adams. Unfortunately half time came before the Redskins were able to score.
The second half began with Western kicking off to the Redskins. During the Redskins first possession of the second half, #82 Garrett Wilson made a series of good runs down the field. Then #80 MacLean Blackwell made a great catch on a passing play. Unfortunately the Redskins were not able to keep it going and had to turn the ball over on downs. The Wildcats started moving the ball down the field but were stopped in their tracks when #46 Sam McRoberts recovered a fumble to give the Redskins back the ball. The Redskins marched the ball down the field with a run by quarterback #17 Matt Klein. Next, #9 Trevor Holt made a run for first down. The Redskins made another first down thanks to runs by #36 Easton Royals and #22 Blake Fratrick. Their Offense helped them out by great blocking by #34 Tyler Boswell and #79 Sam Pawlik. The Wildcats then recovered a fumble and the Wildcat’s quarterback moved the ball down the field with one passing play after another. But the Redskin’s stayed strong with help by their defensive line including #11 Zach Powers and #48 Dylan Halpern. The Wildcats were forced to turn the ball over to the Redskins. The last possession for the Redskins saw a run by quarterback #24 Jovon Hughes and a pass play to #80 MacLean Blackwell. The Wildcats defense was tough and they got the ball back on downs with very little time on the clock. The Wildcats started moving the ball down the field. #7 John Maddock made a great save and ran a Wildcat runner out of bounds to save a touchdown. The Wildcats ran out of time and were unable to score. The game ends with the Redskins winning 12-0. Great game Redskins! Once again you played as “One team, one heartbeat”.
