SUMMER FOOTBALL CAMP INFORMATION:
Having your player attend a football camp this summer is a great way of getting him ready for the start of pre-season practice in August. There are several around the area, but here is some information on a couple of them:


UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND FOOTBALL CAMP


The 2008 National Champion Richmond Spiders will be holding their annual football camp this summer. Grades 3-8 will attend from July 12-15 from 6:30- 8 p.m. each night.Cost is $65 per camper.
Grades 9-12 will attend July 19 - 22 from 6:30 - 9 p.m. Cost is $75 per camper. You can go to the Spider's website at:

It will give you an idea of practice times and what to expect for the first few weeks of the season. Jeff Anderson, our association photographer was busy snapping very candid photos of the football and cheerleading teams at work during practice and our games in 2008. Go to the site and click on the link for your child's team and view pictures and slideshows already on the site. Jeff will be taking pictures of games, practices and special event throughout the season. If you order pictures, a portion of the sales will go to Kanawha so please check them out frequently for some great keepsakes of last year's football season.

WEATHER POLICY
If there is inclement weather during the day, or the night before, of a scheduled practice, Henrico County will make a decision on whether or not to close our fields. This decision is usually made by 3:00 p.m. Once they make a decision, we will put any cancellations on the hotline (360-8633). If bad weather occurs after 3:00 p.m., the decision on whether to close the fields is at our discretion. If the hotline has not been updated by 5:30, assume practice is on. If bad weather occurs after 5:30 and we have to make a last minute decision, we will have a board member in the parking lot advising you that practice is cancelled. During practice, if lightening is in the area, we will have the kids leave the field and ask them to stay in their parent's cars for a period of time undtil we advise as to what the status of the remainder of practice will be. There should be an adult in charge of your child during practice at all times for this reason as well as for safety reasons.

KYFCA IMPORTANT DATES:

Pre-Season Practice begins Monday, August 10th.
Football players - M-F 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Cheerleaders - M-Th 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

First Metro Games are scheduled for Saturday, September 5th. There is no schedule for gridiron games as yet. ALL DATES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE BY METRO.

November 7th - 1st Round METRO Playoffs*
