The 2008 Football & Cheerleading Season is Right Around the Corner!!

In a very few short weeks, we will meeting again...or for the first time...at Short Pump Park to begin the 2008 Redskins Season. Our newsletter, The SkinTalk was mailed out the last week of June with a lot of important information and dates in it. If you did not receive it, please let us know so we can check our database for correct addresses. You can e-mail kspen01@aol.com if you did not receive a newsletter and one will be mailed to you. You may also download the most recent 2008 SkinTalk from the website link to the left. Football and Cheerleading equipment handout dates are in the Important Dates box to the right. PLEASE try and make the handout date or makeup date as it makes for a much less chaotic first week if everyone has what they need. If your son has not attended any football or conditioning camps this summer, the Velocity camp below is a great opportunity to get him (or her) ready to play. The information and registration link is below. G.O.A.L also provides an excellent opportunity to get your child in shape for football or any sport the he or she might be interested in. Information for G.O.A.L. with Coach Craig is also below. Please read the inclement weather policy to understand when and how practice may be cancelled. The MYFL Varsity schedule is available at www.metrofootball.org. The MYFL JV Schedule and the Gridiron Game Schedule is usually not available until middle or late August. Please be aware that we have NO control over when these schedules come out and they are always subject to change (and usually do!) This camp is for any youth player - rec league or school participant - ages 7-14. The camp will be held at Short Pump Park (Home of the Kanawha Redskins) August 4th - 7th from 6:00 - 8:00. This is a NON-CONTACT football camp designed specifically to enhance athleticism. Drills will be football focused. All camp participants will receive a NIKE t-shirt and an official SPARQ rating. WEATHER POLICY

If there is inclement weather during the day, or the night before, of a scheduled practice, Henrico County will make a decision on whether or not to close our fields. This decision is usually made by 3:00 p.m. Once they make a decision, we will put any cancellations on the hotline (360-8633). If bad weather occurs after 3:00 p.m., the decision on whether to close the fields is at our discretion. If the hotline has not been updated by 5:30, assume practice is on. If bad weather occurs after 5:30 and we have to make a last minute decision, we will have a board member in the parking lot advising you that practice is cancelled. During practice, if lightening is in the area, we will have the kids leave the field and ask them to stay in their parent's cars for a period of time undtil we advise as to what the status of the remainder of practice will be. There should be an adult in charge of your child during practice at all times for this reason as well as for safety reasons.
